Castor Oil Packs for PCOS
— now known as PMOS.
Supporting the hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive system — from the inside out.
The conversation is already happening. We are simply bringing it home to Pakistan.
For years,
it may have
gone undiagnosed.
Unnamed.
Unexplained.
In May 2026, following a landmark global consensus study published in The Lancet and input from over 22,000 people across eleven years, PCOS was officially renamed PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. The new name finally reflects what those living with the condition have always known: this is not simply a condition of the ovaries. It is a complex, multisystem hormonal and metabolic disorder — one that touches almost every part of the body.
Irregular periods. Hormonal acne. Unexplained weight changes. Fatigue. Hair thinning. The feeling that your body is working against you, without a clear explanation for why.
A well-supported hormonal system is foundational to managing PCOS/PMOS.
Castor oil packs — used consistently as part of a broader wellness approach — are one of the oldest and most accessible tools for providing that support.

Significantly documented by one of the most extensively referenced natural health practitioners of the century — who devoted considerable attention to castor oil packs on the liver and abdomen as a supportive wellness practice for women's hormonal health.
PCOS/PMOS has one of the most active and honest communities in the global wellness space. Women have been sharing their experiences with castor oil packs — what they noticed, how they incorporated the ritual, what changed over time — long before it had a name that accurately described it.
The condition affects an estimated 1 in 10 women of reproductive age — though some estimates suggest the figure may be higher, as PCOS/PMOS remains significantly underdiagnosed. The conversation around natural, complementary support for it is wide, active, and growing. We are simply bringing it home to Pakistan.

How castor oil packs work.
Used consistently and explored in modern research, castor oil packs may offer the following for those navigating PCOS/PMOS — as a gentle, complementary practice used alongside proper medical care.
Castor oil's primary active compound — ricinoleic acid — has been widely noted for its natural anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. PCOS/PMOS is characterised by chronic low-grade inflammation — a state that worsens insulin resistance, disrupts hormonal signalling, and contributes to many of the condition's most difficult symptoms. Applied consistently, ricinoleic acid may help reduce this inflammatory burden over time.
The liver is responsible for metabolising and clearing excess hormones — including oestrogen and androgens. In PCOS/PMOS, androgen excess is one of the defining features of the condition. When the liver is supported and functioning well, hormonal clearance is more efficient — and the hormonal imbalances that drive so many PCOS/PMOS symptoms begin to ease. This is why liver placement is included alongside the abdominal placement — addressing the hormonal environment, not just the local symptoms.
The lymphatic system carries waste, excess hormones, and inflammatory compounds toward the liver for clearance. Castor oil is traditionally associated with supporting lymphatic movement — helping the body move what it needs to clear, more efficiently. For women navigating PCOS/PMOS, supporting this natural detoxification pathway consistently is one of the most meaningful things the ritual offers.
PCOS/PMOS is a condition that responds to consistency. Not a single session — but a rhythm, maintained over months.
When placed over the lower abdomen, castor oil packs are thought to support circulation to the ovaries and uterus — nourishing the reproductive tissues and helping address the congestion and inflammation that can disrupt ovulation and contribute to irregular cycles. Many women with PCOS/PMOS use both the liver and lower abdomen placements as part of their practice.
The nervous system plays a significant and underappreciated role in PCOS/PMOS. Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which worsens insulin resistance and disrupts the delicate hormonal balance the condition already struggles to maintain. The ritual of a castor oil pack — warmth, stillness, intentional rest — engages the parasympathetic nervous system, the state in which the body heals and restores. Practised consistently, it is one of the most accessible tools for nervous system regulation available.
The method.
Primary — Ovarian & Uterine Support
Place your hand flat just below the navel. Where your hand ends — the area from below to just above the pubic bone — is where your pack will sit. This is where the uterus and ovaries are located. Use between periods, not during periods — consistent use in the weeks between cycles is where the benefit builds.
Optional — Hormonal Clearance
Place your hand flat against the right side of your chest so your pinky finger aligns with the very bottom edge of your ribcage. Your hand is now resting exactly over your liver. Position your castor oil pack right there — directly over those lower ribs. A standard-sized pack will naturally be large enough to cover the lower right ribs and drape slightly down into the upper right quadrant of your abdomen.
You may also keep the pack on overnight without heat — simply the flannel resting over the placement area as you sleep.
Using both placements? Additional flannel pieces are available.

For best results, use at least three times per week — many people find four or five times fits naturally as the ritual becomes part of their evening. PCOS/PMOS responds to consistency over time, not a single session.
A few things to keep in mind.
Begin with shorter sessions of 20 to 30 minutes and observe how your body responds before extending to longer sessions. Perform a patch test on a small area of skin at least 24 hours before your first full use. Discontinue if any irritation or adverse reaction occurs.
Castor oil packs are a traditional wellness practice and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or replace medical care for PCOS/PMOS or any related condition. If you have been diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS, are taking medication, or are under any form of medical supervision, please consult your healthcare provider before incorporating castor oil packs into your routine. Do not use during pregnancy or while nursing. This page is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice.
