Skin dryness & you

Dry skin
is not a flaw.
It is a barrier
asking for help.

Dry skin is one of the most common skin concerns. Most moisturisers address the surface. Castor oil goes deeper.

Castor oil does not just sit on the skin. It sinks into it — sealing moisture in.

Castor oil is one of the most effective natural moisturisers available. Its molecular structure allows it to penetrate the skin more deeply than most conventional moisturisers, and its occlusive quality seals moisture in.

Traditional Use

Used across South Asian, African, Caribbean, and Middle Eastern traditions as a body oil, skin protector, and deep moisturiser. Applied to the face, body, hands, and feet for generations — long before it appeared on ingredient lists in modern skincare.

What people are saying

The conversation is already happening. We are simply bringing it home to Pakistan.

Search "castor oil for dry skin" on YouTube and you will find a wide community sharing their experiences — people who switched from synthetic moisturisers to castor oil and found that their skin held moisture significantly better, their dry patches resolved, and their skin texture improved over weeks of consistent use.

Why Castor Oil & Skin Dryness

How castor oil addresses dry skin.

Castor oil is one of the most deeply moisturising natural oils available — and one of the most versatile. Applied to the face or body, it addresses dryness at the skin barrier level rather than sitting on the surface.

Occlusive — Seals Moisture In

Castor oil acts as an occlusive — forming a protective layer over the skin that slows transepidermal water loss. Dry skin loses moisture faster than it should. The occlusive property of castor oil addresses this directly, keeping the moisture that is already in the skin from evaporating throughout the day or night.

Deep Penetration

The molecular structure of Ricinoleic acid — castor oil's primary active compound — allows castor oil to penetrate the skin more deeply than most conventional moisturisers. Rather than sitting on the surface, it reaches the deeper layers of the skin where lasting hydration is built. This is why the results of consistent castor oil use tend to outlast those of surface-level moisturisers.

Skin Barrier Repair

Dry skin is often a sign of a compromised skin barrier — the protective layer that keeps moisture in and irritants out. Castor oil's anti-inflammatory properties and deep moisturising action help restore and strengthen the skin barrier over time, addressing the root cause of chronic dryness rather than managing its symptoms.

Anti-Inflammatory

Ricinoleic acid — castor oil's primary active compound — has been widely noted for its natural anti-inflammatory properties. For dry skin that is also sensitive, reactive, or prone to redness, this makes castor oil a particularly supportive choice.

How to Use Castor Oil for Skin Dryness

The method.

01
Cleanse the skin. For face application — wash and pat dry, leaving the skin slightly damp. For body application — apply after a shower while the skin is still slightly warm and open.
02
Apply a small amount of castor oil directly to the dry area. For the face — two to three drops. For body areas — enough to cover the area with a thin layer. Warm between palms before applying.
03
Massage gently into the skin using circular motions. This helps the oil penetrate rather than sit on the surface.
04
Leave overnight for maximum benefit. For heels and hands, cover with cotton socks or gloves to enhance absorption and protect bedding. In the morning, rinse or wipe away any residue.

Castor oil is thick. If it feels too heavy for daily face use, dilute with a lighter oil — jojoba, rosehip, or almond oil — in a 1:2 ratio. This maintains the deep moisture benefit while making it more comfortable to wear overnight.

When to Use

A few things to keep in mind.

Nightly — castor oil is best applied at night. Overnight application gives the skin the longest possible absorption window and produces the most visible results.
After washing — apply to skin that has just been cleaned and is still slightly damp. Damp skin absorbs oil more readily than completely dry skin.
Not on broken or weeping skin — do not apply to skin that is actively broken, weeping, or infected. Apply only to intact or calming skin. If unsure, consult your healthcare provider.
For women — Face application is safe during menstruation. do not apply to the abdomen and lower back during active menstruation, throughout pregnancy and if you are trying to conceive. For application on face during pregnancy, and if you are nursing, ask your healthcare provider before use. If you are trying to conceive, check our Fertility page (under Castor Oil tab) to know when to apply on lower abdomen and lower back, before use please consult your healthcare provider. If you are undergoing IVF or IUI — do not use castor oil, particularly on lower abdomen and lower back.
Patch test first — perform a patch test on the inner wrist at least 24 hours before first facial application. Castor oil is well tolerated by most skin types but should always be tested before use on the face.
A Note for First-Time Users

Start with a very small amount — castor oil is concentrated and a little goes a long way. For face application, begin with one drop and observe how your skin responds overnight. For body areas, begin with a small amount on one patch of dry skin before applying more broadly. Discontinue if any irritation or breakouts occur.
